Together with SeaTrees, we restore, plant and protect coastal ecosystems. This stores CO2 in the most efficient & effective way, while also providing local ecosystem and economic benefits. Mangrove forests are up to 5x more effective at storing carbon compared to tropical forests and 1000x more cost-efficient at protecting coastlines than seawalls.

PANGAIA’s Mangrove Tree Planting System

For each product sold, we plant 1 mangrove tree with SeaTrees in your honour. One mangrove tree stores approximately 1 ton of CO2, creates critical habitat for marine life, and provides sustainable employment for local communities.

So, 1 PANGAIA product purchased = 1 mangrove tree planted = 1 ton CO2 stored, thanks to you!

About SeaTrees

SeaTrees is the first blue-carbon, ocean focused platform allowing brands and individuals to take action on climate change by planting and protecting SeaTrees in coastal ecosystems. The process also improves water quality, biodiversity of plants and animals, as well as offering protection from rising sea levels, storm surges and creates economic opportunities for local communities. In turn, this project directly enables the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), designed to transform our world for good by 2030.

What is Blue Carbon?

Blue carbon is the carbon stored in coastal and marine ecosystems. SeaTrees focuses on carbon on the coast — mangroves, kelp, tidal marshes and seagrasses. These ecosystems sequester and store large quantities of blue carbon in both the plants and the sediment below. For example, over 95% of the carbon in seagrass meadows is stored in the soils (Blue Carbon Initiative).
