From day 1, our mission was to inspire and accelerate an Earth-positive future. Now, just 3 years later, we’ve joined the inspiring roster of B Corp-certified brands and businesses that live the highest social and environmental standards for people and the planet.

“For PANGAIA, a young company with purpose at its core, achieving B Corp certification is a major milestone, especially so early into our journey. B Corp’s framework supports our on-going mission to inspire and accelerate an Earth-positive future and ensures that we continue to do business differently, prioritizing the planet and its people.”

Maria Srivastava, PANGAIA Chief Impact Officer

    So, what’s a B Corp?

B Corporations are brands that have been certified to be doing business responsibly, transparently and carefully, considering the impact of their decisions on every stakeholder across their supply chain. To become a B Corp, companies must provide answers and evidence to 300 questions across Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The results are used by the B Corp team to assess if a company lives their values. It’s also a useful tool for companies to continuously re-evaluate and improve their social and environmental impact.

We know that this is a journey, not a destination, and look forward to continuing our work towards a future where we give back more than we take and achieve balance with the world around us.

Certification Notice: “Certified B Corporation” is a trademark licensed by B Lab, a private non-profit organization, to companies like ours that have successfully completed the B Impact Assessment (“BIA”) and therefore meet the requirements set by B Lab for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. It is specified that B Lab is not a conformity assessment body as defined by Regulation (EU) No 765/2008, nor is it a national, European, or international standardization body as per Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012. The criteria of the BIA are distinct and independent from the harmonized standards resulting from ISO norms or other standardization bodies, and they are not ratified by national or European public institutions.

    What’s PANGAIA’s score?

To qualify as a B Corp, a brand must achieve a score of 80 points or more. Our final B Corp score is based on fiscal year 2020—when we were just 1 year old and a much younger business than today—so we are delighted with achieving 84.5 points across 5 key areas of Governance, Environment, Community, Workers and Customers. Through this result, we can see a clear path to continued growth and improvement in time for our next assessment in 2025.We have also been recognized for having 4 Impact Business Models (or IBMs) across Governance and Environment (mostly to do with our use of more innovative materials and processes). IBMs are difficult to earn and are awarded when businesses create a high level of social or environmental impact for a specific stakeholder group.

What does this mean for the future?

We will be held accountable for our actions, goals and our progress, and our yearly Impact Report will be our record of progress in growing in each of the B Corp categories. As the B Corp certification process continues to evolve, we will be assessed against the new standards being proposed by the time we recertify in 2025. To improve our score, our aim is to continue to develop processes and systems which champion the B Corp mission and bring us closer to being an Earth-positive business.
